I have but one word to say. Wow. The movie was set to start at 7:10. There was a minor glitch at the theatre shortly after it started (with the colors looking kind of odd and the sound crapping out - on opening night..). Other then that though, the theatre wasn't bad (it really is a very nice theatre, but that was kind of annoying..). But anyways. I left the theatre with, really, three distinct feelings. Stunned, impressed, and suprised. Simply put, the movie was freaking sweet. Awesome. Many other words could be used to describe it as well. As my friend/co-worker Nate put it, it should get a flaming two thumbs up. Aside from some minor issues with crappy acting, I can't think of any worthwhile complaints. The screenplay followed the book very closely, with very little cut out. And aside from the discovery of the wardrobe (I remember all for of them seeing it first in the book), I don't know of anything that was changed.
And to think, this is a Disney movie. For any of you that are on the fence, worried that the movie won't be true to the books and afraid to see it, worry not. I was very happy, and very impressed. I can't say I can vouch for the quality for some of the acting, but overall, it was awesome. I will endevour to see it at least one more time in the theatres (assuming I can, first, come up with the money to do so, and second, find the time).
I can't believe these words out coming out of me, but thank you Disney, for giving us a true adaption of a classic book on the silver screen.
