For those too lazy to follow the link. AMD is releasing the GPU spec's to ATi's video chipsets. Currently the R630 is out at www.x.org/docs/AMD. In addition (from the link above) they are going to provide more support (in terms of documentation, source code examples, etc) to the open source community. Fglrx will continue as it is now, but the open source community finally has something to build from now. No more having to reverse engineer.

Thank you AMD. Keep up the good work. I knew there was a reason I support your company.
