Come one! Come all! Let us look back at the plans and failures of the last few months.
The third semester at DigiPen began in January. This was a semester I was looking forward to. I had the opportunity to develop a Real Time Operating System on an embedded micro-controller, and to expand and develop my circuit analysis and design skills. What happened? Well, those expectations were achieved, and more. I was introduced into FPGA development as well, and have been itching to do more. Some of the things I was doing in class did not reach the level of completion that I want to see and experience.
Stepping forward to April, finals were mere weeks away and projects were piling up to get finished. To add to this cluster, Google Summer of Code proposals were due to be submitted. I rushed a couple proposals for a couple projects I was interested in. One was simply for experience and to contribute to a project I hope to have a need for in the near future. The other project was for something I've been wanting to do for years. I was looking forward to working on one of these projects, and intended to do so even if SoC didn't accept either of my proposals.
As they say, the best laid plans can often go awry. And go awry they did. Finals came and went, and I took a vacation. And by vacation, I mean I did a bunch of house and yard work and basically took time away from technology. It was a good break, though, exhausting.
Plans, still in place to make the summer productive. Memorial day weekend came around and I went to Mansfield, WA and watched rockets fly into the air, and solidified yet another hobby to pursue.
Here we are now, half way through August. A mere three weeks until school begins again and I have accomplished non of my goals for this summer. It has not been all for not, however. I have experimented and am in the process of designing and building a telemetry system for rocket launch recording and broadcasting. I am in the process of building a DIY CNC Mill/Router (more on this later, I promise). I learned processing.org. I've played a lot more with the arduino and I have started looking at the Android development stack.
Oh, and I have two LCD screens that I will be able to modify and utilize for multitouch purposes. I might get one of my goals done after all.
Someday soon I will need to talk about augmented reality and multitouch and my crazy dreams. That shall be saved for another eve, however.
Lots left to do, lots in the queue. Its a good thing I'm already slightly crazy, otherwise I'd be boarding that train before too long regardless.
More to come soon.
